The PT Foundations Programme is a practical 4-week workshop series created by MD Therapy Academy to help aspiring coaches build the essential skills needed to succeed in the fitness industry.

Whether you’re exploring a career in personal training, sports massage, strength & conditioning, or simply want to develop your coaching skills, this series will give you the insight, confidence, and practical tools to take your first steps.

This isn’t just theory.

You’ll learn the real skills successful coaches use every day when working with clients.

What You’ll Learn

Across four interactive workshops you will develop the foundations of effective coaching, programming and building a career in the fitness industry.

You will learn:

Each session includes practical coaching exercises, discussions and real-world examples from professional practice.

Programme Structure

Week 1 – Foundations of Coaching

Learn how to think like a coach and deliver sessions that feel professional and structured.

You’ll learn how to:

• Structure effective training sessions
• Understand client goals and motivations
• Coach movement safely and confidently
• Create simple session plans


Week 2 – Programming for Client Results

Understand how to design training programmes that help clients progress.

You’ll cover:

• Strength, conditioning and mobility basics
• Exercise progressions and regressions
• Coaching cues and technique
• Designing a simple 4-week programme


Week 3 – Client Communication & Psychology

Develop the communication skills great coaches use to build trust and motivate clients.

Topics include:

• Running effective client consultations
• Asking the right questions
• Motivating clients and supporting behaviour change
• Building long-term coaching relationships


Week 4 – Building a Career in Fitness

Learn how successful trainers build a client base and grow a sustainable career.

You’ll learn:

• Employment vs self-employed pathways
• How trainers attract their first clients
• Marketing fundamentals for fitness professionals
• Pricing, packages and positioning
