Why We Developed Signature Therapy

Modern life places immense demands on our bodies. Whether you’re an athlete pushing your limits or someone managing the effects of long hours at a desk, it’s easy to find yourself dealing with pain, stiffness, or reduced mobility.

These issues often stem from a combination of muscle tension, joint misalignment, and movement dysfunction. Understanding the complex interplay of these factors, we developed Signature Therapy to offer a holistic solution that not only treats the symptoms but also addresses the underlying causes of discomfort.

Breaking Down Signature Therapy

Manual Therapy: Restoring Natural Movement

At the core of Signature Therapy is manual therapy – a hands-on approach that focuses on manipulating and mobilising soft tissues and joints. Our experienced therapists apply specific techniques to ease muscle tension, reduce pain, and improve joint function. Whether you’re dealing with a sports injury or everyday aches and pains, manual therapy helps to restore natural movement and alleviate discomfort.

Osteopathic Spinal Manipulation: Aligning the Spine for Better Health

The spine is the backbone of your body’s structure and function. When it’s out of alignment, it can lead to pain, restricted movement, and even systemic health issues. Osteopathic spinal manipulation is a key component of Signature Therapy, focusing on realigning the vertebrae to improve posture, relieve nerve pressure, and reduce pain. This technique is particularly effective for those experiencing back pain, neck pain, or headaches related to spinal misalignments.

Deep Tissue Remedial Massage: Releasing Deep-Seated Tension

For those with chronic muscle tightness or deep-seated tension, our deep tissue remedial massage offers profound relief. This technique targets the deeper layers of muscle tissue, working to break down adhesions, release tension, and promote long-lasting muscle relaxation. By addressing these deep muscle layers, the massage not only alleviates current discomfort but also helps prevent future issues.

Dynamic Stretches: Enhancing Flexibility and Preventing Injury

Flexibility is key to maintaining mobility and preventing injuries. Signature Therapy incorporates dynamic stretches tailored to your specific needs. These stretches target tight and restricted muscles, improving your range of motion and reducing the risk of future injuries. Whether you’re an athlete seeking to enhance performance or someone looking to improve daily movement, dynamic stretching is an integral part of your treatment plan.

Targeted Exercises: Building Strength and Stability

Exercise is essential for maintaining the benefits of therapy and ensuring long-term health. Our targeted exercises are designed to strengthen weak muscles, improve stability, and support your body’s natural healing process. These exercises are customized to address your specific areas of concern, helping you build strength, enhance stability, and maintain the progress you’ve made through therapy.

Frequently Asked Questions

How quickly will I see results?

Many clients notice improvements in pain, mobility, and strength after just a few sessions. However, depending on the severity of the injury or condition, a series of treatments may be necessary for full recovery.

Your therapist will be happy to discuss a treatment plan with you at your initial consultation.

Do I need to be injured to see a sports therapist?

No, sports therapy is beneficial for injury prevention, improving performance, and correcting movement patterns, even if you are not currently injured.

We always recommend booking in for a follow-up treatment within 1-2 weeks after your initial appointment to review progress. We will then discuss if any further sessions may be beneficial.

Most conditions can be treated within 4-6 sessions, although if your condition is chronic, or if you are highly active and in competition or working in a physically demanding job, you may want to consider regular maintenance treatments every 6-12 weeks.

Can I continue exercising during treatment?

Your therapist will guide you on which activities to avoid and may recommend modifications to your routine. You will also receive specific exercises to aid recovery.

What other services should I consider?

You may want to consider booking in for a Full Body MOT.

Our Full Body MOT is a comprehensive review of your overall physical health and mobility. It is comprised of:

– Full Body Mobility Assessment: We’ll assess your body’s range of motion to pinpoint any areas of stiffness that may be limiting your flexibility.
– Postural Assessment: Our therapists will evaluate your posture to identify imbalances that could be contributing to your back, neck, or joint pain.
– Muscle Strength Testing: We’ll conduct muscle strength tests to find weak areas that may be causing muscle tightness, back pain, or joint discomfort.

Treatment Options Included
– Massage Therapy: We offer a range of massages—from deep tissue for muscle recovery to relaxation techniques. These treatments target muscle tension and help alleviate stress, leaving you feeling relaxed and rejuvenated.
– Manual Therapy & Osteopathic Joint Mobilisations: Our experts will use hands-on techniques to restore proper joint movement, helping to relieve stiffness, neck pain, lower back discomfort, and improve overall joint function.
– Personalised Exercises & Stretches: Your Full Body MOT includes a tailored set of exercises and stretches designed by our personal trainers and sports therapists. These are targeted at strengthening weak muscles and improving overall flexibility and mobility, ensuring you stay active and strong throughout the winter.

Can I claim sports therapy sessions through my private health insurance?

In some cases, yes. Many health providers offering cash plans offer a contribution towards sports therapy and massage treatments.

We always advise to contact your insurer for pre-approval before commencing treatment with us.

What happens if I need a scan? Or if I need to undergo surgery following an injury?

If we feel that you would benefit from further diagnostic tests or support from a specialist consultant, we can arrange for a private referral to a specialist for further care. We work closely with Ross Hall Hospital to co-ordinate your ongoing healthcare plan. Post surgery, we will be able to review your condition with your specialist to plan ongoing rehabilitation and recovery.

Client Testimonials

“Working with Marc was a great experience. He listened to my needs and his encouragement helped me feel confident to return to training after twisting my ankle during a match. The exercises have been great and really easy using the app to show me what to do”
James W.

“I can’t thank Marc and the MD Therapy team enough for their support during my rehabilitation. They really took the time to understand what was going on with my back after a bad scrum tackle left me almost unable to walk. Not only did they help get to the bottom of my back pain but also kept me motivated every time I came in for a session, there were days I was feeling really down cause I just thought I’d never feel ready to play again. But it’s great to be playing rugby again after just 4 months off!” — Chris J.

“I would never have considered sports therapy for my back after I started feeling really stiff getting out of the car and finding it really hard to get a good night’s sleep. But a friend at work said I should see MD Therapy and they’ve been great. Can’t believe the improvement in only a few sessions. Already feeling better and no pain sitting at my desk! Marc is amazing at his job! Thank you!”
Michael B.
