Frequently Asked Questions

Is remedial massage painful?

Some pressure may feel intense, especially when targeting tight or knotted muscles. However, any discomfort is temporary and part of the healing process, with therapists adjusting the pressure to your comfort level.

If you have any concerns about pain during the treatment, please alert your therapist. The pressure should not be excessive to cause any unnecessary pain. Alternatively, you may opt for one of our relaxation treatments.

How many sessions will I need?

This depends on your specific condition. Some individuals feel significant improvement after the first session, while others may benefit from ongoing treatments to fully address muscular issues.

We always recommend booking in for a follow-up treatment within 1-2 weeks after your initial appointment to review progress. We will then discuss if any further sessions may be beneficial.

Most conditions can be treated within 4-6 sessions, although if your condition is chronic, or if you are highly active and in competition or working in a physically demanding job, you may want to consider regular maintenance treatments every 6-12 weeks.

Can massage help with chronic conditions?

Yes, remedial massage is highly effective for chronic conditions like back pain, arthritis, and sciatica by reducing inflammation and relieving tension.

Client Testimonials

“Remedial Massage has been essential in managing my chronic back pain. The sessions have not only reduced my discomfort but also improved my mobility.”
Sarah L.

“The remedial massage and exercise sessions have been a game changer while preparing for the Edinburgh Marathon. When my knee started playing up, I asked a few friends at my running club about physio and they recommended I come to see Marc – the pain was getting worse every time I ran. Marc quickly found the issue and said it was likely because I didn’t do any strength training and don’t spend much time warming up. Hadn’t even thought about that or doing weights, I was a bit hesitant at the start but Marc was really friendly and supportive. I soon realised I didn’t have as much balance or core strength as I thought but I finally know what I need to work on to stay on top of it and I’m now running pain-free. The app is also great to remember the exercises you need to follow. Thanks Marc!”
Jessica L.

“A couple of months ago I felt a sharp pain in my shoulder while playing tennis and it just hasn’t been right since. I haven’t been able to get back to playing but I found Marc and booked in for an assessment. Marc gave me exercises to follow and a really great deep tissue massage where I felt instant relief after! So grateful I can play again without worrying about my shoulder”
Michael B.
